Mary Katrantzou Might Launch Plus Sizes On Net-A-Porter

Everything is coming up plus sizes!! The rumor mill is boiling over comments made by talented London-based designer Mary Katrantzou who may be looking to expand her size range up to a size 16, for sale on one of my personal favorite websites – Net-A-Porter.

Mary Katrantzou stated that Net-A-Porter requested that she “go bigger”:

“I was looking at a size 14 woman wearing our dress and I thought, ‘I can’t believe we don’t go bigger than that size!’ because she looked tiny,” she told the paper. She also made an interesting point about offering plus sizes online: “I buy online–I think as a bigger size, you feel more comfortable trying things at home.”

She is smart to mention that print size and placement, increased fabric costs and techical design will have to change when she increases her size range. I am happy to see she realizes that these edits are a must! It starts with one and the rest will follow! I really hope this is not just a rumor and we would love to buy her pieces.

While browsing the fashion world on the Internet, we came across a lovely young lady, Ashley Tipton, who has an eye for fashion and is a talented designer beyond her years. We just had to support and share with our faithful fans her new collection, Ashley Nell Tipton Designs. Ashley’s full figured collection is targeted towards the 20-30 something females that have a chic and rocker-edge style.

“The artful combination of glamour and street inspired my collection. Women’s curves inspired the construction and my love for color and a fight against the phrase “black is slimming” affected my color choices. Going against the grain, I created a collection that is full of bright hues and bold patterns. I pictured my muse roaming the streets of London unabashed and feeling confident in my stride while wearing designs that are not seen in full figure wear today. The finished product incorporates both boldness and finesse, just like myself” - Ashley Tipton

2012 NYFW Fall RTW: Street Style

I really enjoy taking street style photos. I think it is a mix of photographing strangers that I do not know, and the fact that their outfits are from their own personal closets, that excites me the most. I am very proud of my clothing collection, so I know that plenty other people feel the same. Many fashion designers say they get inspiration from street style which makes photographing strangers on the street much more exciting!
