
Just as we are celebrating curvy mannequins in the department stores, the exact opposite is happening to men, their mannequins are being called “Manorexic”. The newest form being unveiled by British mannequin maker Rootstein is called “Homme Nouveau”, it is featuring measurements of 35 inch chest and 27 inch waist. Back in the 1960′s the average measurements were 42 inch chest and 33 inch waist.
Just as attention is starting to be focused on female models and their struggles with eating disorders in the fashion industry, now men are now experiencing this world first hand, with an increase in male models who have anorexia.
Percentage of Eating-Disorder Sufferers Who Are Men:
1990: 10%
Today: 25%
