Fashion Illustrated also covered some of the reasons why plus fashion is struggling to make it to the forefront of the fashion industry over the past decade. This quote from NPD Group’ chief industry analyst Marshal Cohan sums it up well.
“Designers are more concerned about the image of their brand than maximizing the market opportunities. In the long run they feel that catering to the large size market will ‘shrink’ their overall marketability by making their image less romantic and elegant.”
