The Oxygen network show Dance Your Ass Off will be starting soon, but there will be one major change…THE HOST.

Marrisa Jaret Winokur has been replaced with Mel B!! I get it that Mel B may be a little more recognizable, and has the dancing history from being in the Spice Girls. Marrisa has one thing that Mel B does not and that is Marrisa can relate to the contestants, I really don’t feel it was because there was a “portion (of the audience) who didn’t connect with her”.

According to Oxygen network executive producer Dan Cutworth that was the problem:

It is the same demographic of girls, the girls who grew up with the Spice Girls definitely saw the original movie Hairspray, Broadway show Hairspray, and the remake of Hairspray. I know that there is not a plus girl out there who did not feel connected to that movie! Whether Ricki Lake or Marrisa Jaret Winokur we feel connected to her, and we all know the real reason why she is no longer the host, and that is her waistline.
