Celebrity Diamonds

Celebrities are the bearers of the most beautiful diamonds on earth.  Some celebrities bear diamonds that are the envy of royalty. There are even diamonds that are named after celebrities. Without their sparkle celebrities would be just like us. We don’t really want to be them, we just want their diamonds.

Taylor Burton Diamond

The most famous of these is the Taylor Burton diamond.  This diamond is almost 70 carats!  This famous pear shaped diamond was for sale in 1969 with the included stipulation that the buyer get the honor of naming it. For one brief day it was called Cartier after the famous jeweler in New York.  However history records that Richard Burton bought the diamond from Cartier the very next day for his beloved, Elizabeth Taylor. He then renamed the diamond the Taylor Burton diamond and Elizabeth Taylor kept it in her possession for a decade before selling it for charity.

Initial Fascination

When Madonna and Britney Spears performed together at the MTV Music Awards in 2003, they both wore initial diamond necklaces. Together these two initials, the M and the B were packed with over $25,000 worth of diamonds.  The designer of this necklace reported that after the two controversial performers wore his jewels during their infamous kiss the requests and sales for these items were explosive. You saw them on many famous necks at the rest of the 2003 awards ceremonies.

Who’s is Bigger

Britney Spears is also famous for buying her own engagement ring when she first decided to marry Kevin Federline.  She spent almost $50,000 on a 4 carat ring for herself.  Poor Kevin never had a chance of topping that. Although he did buy her a ring himself before their one year anniversary, something tells us it wasn’t as nice as the one Brit bought herself.

As usual Christina Aguilera had to outdo Brittany when she got her engagement ring and she didn’t even have to buy it herself. Her diamond engagement ring weighs in at a whopping 20 carats. Seems a bit like Brit may have gotten ripped off when you compare here measly 4 carats to Christina Aguilera’s glorious 20 carat diamond. Those two have always been in competition and it seems like Christina almost always comes out on top. Her marriage is stable. She has her health and her hair as well as a solid family with her husband and child. Poor Brittany!

The Color of Envy

Of course everyone has seen or heard about the beautiful 6 carat pink diamond that Ben Affleck gave to Jennifer Lopez. This diamond sparked more replicas than any other in recent history. J-Lo brought back platinum with this ring as well as making pink diamonds a must have for every woman and even teenage girl in America.

Tom Cruise bought Katie Holmes a 25 carat yellow diamond engagement ring and generated the next fad craze.  Pink was hot and then it was not. Like J-Lo and Ben it wasn’t meant to be!  The yellow or canary as it is often called diamond was requested madly and became all the rage. Celebrity’s trend set jewelry. After all how many of you have 25 carat diamonds lying about?

Usher fell into the diamond craze and commissioned a watch made for himself that has over 1000 miniscule yellow diamonds in it.  He has an obsession with jewelry like many other popular artists but is seems he chose to memorialize himself in the yellow diamond watch.

Nicole Kidman appeared at the 2008 Oscars in a diamond necklace that reportedly had over 7600 diamonds in it.  Apparently the diamond was the real star of the show as everyone was bejeweled in them. Renee Zellweger was also seen wearing beautiful diamond bracelets at the gala event.

Diamond chandelier and pendant earrings as well as long drop earrings are very popular this year. Angelina wore a studded deviation at the SAG awards show in 2008. Bling covered purses were being sported at the Grammy awards this year. Diamonds were aglow among the stars all evening celebrating the 50th anniversary of these prestigious awards.

Real or Replica

Real diamonds are among the most durable surfaces on earth and a “fake” diamond may glow for a week or two, but it will not be able to sustain the lasting light and clarity of a real diamond.

No matter whether or not you can afford the size of Christina Aguilera’s engagement ring, you want to be certain you’re purchasing a real diamond and getting the biggest bang for your buck. Only real diamonds have the brilliance and fire they are known for and they won’t scratch, unlike replica diamonds that don’t have the same sparkle and will scratch. When it comes to buying diamonds, there’s just nothing like the real thing.
