Crystal Renn on Nightline- Is it ok to be fat?

crystal renn on nightline

Nightline had a heated debate last night called “Is it ok to be Fat?”.

This debate was created due to the size of models, sample sizes, and the plus size being debated largely in the media as of late. Models like Coco Rocha at a size 4 are called too fat to model, Filippa Hamilton was fired from Ralph Lauren after gaining weight, diet pill promotions run rampant, and books and magazine focus on the desire to lose weight. All of this controversy has created a strong backlash in society. Plus models have risen in stature and are gaining editorials in major magazines. Books such as “Health at Every Size” have hit bookshelves and there are more fat activist then ever.

This led Nightline to bring together a panel of 4 women with strong viewpoints on this topic. There is Marianne Kirby who is a plus size activist and believes in fat acceptance. Meme Roth is a health counselor and a champion of healthy eating.  Crystal Renn is a size 12 plus size model and is one of the highest paid plus models in the industry.  Kim Benser tipped the scales over 350 pounds and lost 200 pounds and wrote a book called “Finally Thin”.

The panelist heatily debated this issue with our favorite plus model Crystal Renn, who previously suffered from anorexia, said she believes in moderation and that your body determines your natural size and you should not fight it. She also says she would live to see more variety on the runways and in fashion magazines because that is what is in the real world.

Definitely check out the below video of the debate and less know your thoughts!
