The gorgeous Italian plus models (left to right) Marina Ferrari, Valentina Fogliani, Elisa D’Ospina, Mjriam Bon, Eleonora Finazzer, and Latvian plus model Aija Barzdina all came together to pose for photographer Luca Patrone to help support body image and draw awareness to eating disorders in the fashion industry. Curvy Can created this campaign in partnership with Jonas Onlus; an Italian clinique where these eating disorders are treated. This ethical campaign was created soley to promote a positive body image and all of the models and participants in the shoot worked for free to support it. Additionally, these models either have faced eating disorders themselves or have seen friends go through them.
The campain consists of the picture above (I’m Not a Fashion Victim), videos educating Italians on eating disorders, and school programs with Jonus Onlus.
For our Italian fans our there, we have a great video to share. They speak to the fact that in Italy 1,000,000 women suffer from eating disorders and 7 out of 10 girls don’t like how they look due to the stereotypical skinny top model image that is promoted and the fact that curves can be sexy too! Enjoy!
