I visited the MET’s “Model as Muse” exhibit this weekend and was admiring all of the beautiful models that have attracted our attention and inspired designers for numerous decades. As I was walking through the 90’s era I came across a write up that mentioned fashion model Kate Dillon as one of the key figures who helped change peoples views on modeling and beauty.
Kate is without a doubt an inspiringly beautiful plus size model. Kate originally started modeling in her teens on the runways of Chanel, Dior, Fendi, Gucci, and MaxMara. The stress to stay thin for the high end designer lines though led her to anorexia and smoking three packs a day. She decided to leave the fashion industry and gained weight when she started recovering from anorexia. In 1996, Kate re-emerged on the runway as the hottest plus size model. She became a favorite of Marina Rinaldi and French Vogue. Check out some of my favorite shots of her!
