Kate is a fabulously talented up and coming model based in Dallas, TX, she is the classic American beauty with her blue eyes,blonde hair and perfect smile.  She has had the opportunity to work some fabulous brands like Junonia, Saks, Dillards and JC Penny. We are so excited to feature her this week as our Fresh Face model.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in the modeling industry?

I was always told to get into modeling.

There have been numerous exciting developments in the plus industry, like V Magazine plus issue, and Glamour’s feature on plus size models.  Have you noticed a change in opportunities?

I have. Over the past 10 years there has been a huge change in the plus size world. Ive noticed just in everyday shopping you can now go into stores like OLD NAVY and TARGET and there is a whole section for plus. I think it is great! No  more special orders.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Shopping.. I love shopping

What models do you look to for inspiration?

Rachel Hunter is amazing. I met her once and she is so down to earth and so kind. She is not a size 2. She is a curvier woman and just carries it so beautifully.

What is your dream photoshoot?

I’d love to have a shoot on the beach with some goregeous dresses with just amazing hair and makeup.  Im a very jeans, tshirt and flip flop girl.

What sets you apart from the other plus size models?

I am very comfortable in my own skin. I think it is important for women to accept what they have and love it! Work with what you have not what you don’t have, and be thankful for it.  I get more compliments at the size I am now than I did when I was a size 8.

Who is your favorite designer?

I love Marc Jacobs bags!

How do you think the media portrays plus size models today whereas a year ago?

I think the media is doing great portraying plus size models today. Before the talk shows you would have a segment of “what to wear this year to the beach” and you would see these skinny girls walk out and show off the skimpiest bikinis.  Now you have them showing all sizes of women in all different bathing suits on what to wear to accentuate what you have. I think its great!

If you were not modeling what career path would you have taken and why?

I would probably teach. I love seeing kids learn something and grasp it and the excitement in their eyes. At the end of the day its so rewarding.

What would you like the world to know about plus size models?

Plus size models are a true portrayal of women. We are beautiful and sexy at any size!
