• How to define whom you will design for
• What buyers/boutiques, etc. to look for when viewing your line
• Various challenges you will face selling your line
• Details to pay attention to while designing for plus
• Stages of product development, size range, and customer research
• Tips on how to avoid costly mistakes and errors

After the presentation, we will do some networking in “speed dating” style so that everyone gets the chance to meet everyone in the room!  So come out for a night full fashion and fun!

The Madison Plus team was thrilled to be invited by Richard Metzger, the genius and Creative Director behind Rafaella, to the Spring 2011 Rafaella press event! The press event gave a sneak peak of the Spring 2011 line to buyers, press, and bloggers. The new collecation is already making us crave a quick return to summer with its nautical and tribal themes. The nautical theme was well done via navy and white color block dresses, blue and yellow floral prints, and classic shirtdresses that were finished off with waist cinching belts. The tribal collection hit all of the right notes with olives, khakis, saffrons, and tribal prints that created exotic yet very wearable looks. Overall the collection is extremely versatile as it can be worn for stylish days at the office to relaxing with your friends on the weekend.

We were so excited to meet Tonya at the Ford+ office, she is one of Lane Bryant’s main ladies and has amazing sense of style. Tonya swears by tailoring, which she does to almost all items she buys. She told us about all the adjustments she made to the All Saints dress she is wearing, which included adjusting the placket, and hemming the length of the dress. The NAAFA, National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance, is giving a $1,000 Fashion Design Scholarship to a student fashion designer, encouraging students to specialize in the plus size fashion industry.

The deadline to submit to this scholarship is June 1, 2010. Included with the scholarship is the opportunity to have a piece from your plus-size fashion collection shown at the 2010 National NAAFA Convention Fashion Show on Friday, August 10, 2010, in San Fransico, California.
