Pantone, the color authority, is touting Tangerine as the color of 2012 for Spring. For the fashion designers out there, the Pantone official number is 17-1463 TCX.

“Consumers look to spring for renewed energy, optimism and the promise of a brighter day,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “They have learned how color can help them alter a mood, while providing the vitality and enthusiasm that enables them to experiment with new looks and color combinations.”

Bright pants are all over the celeb circuit and popping up in all the best colors. This is a great look to wear – but remember there are some rules that need to be followed. Since the brightness of the pants are what catches the eye at first glance, make sure to keep it simple on top. Pair with tops in neutral colors such as whites, creams, tans and greys. These colors work best and compliment these bright tones. Don’t be afraid of drawing too much attention to yourself with such bright colors though, it’s all about balancing your shape and that has nothing to do with the color.

Accessories can be simplified as well to keep the look clean and crisp. If you are feeling adventurous, add a patterned shirt, just make sure to incorporate the color of the pants into a color in the patterned shirt. With these simple guidelines working a bright pant can work on anyone!

What music festivals are you going to this summer? Who are you excited to see?

The Breton tee, a nautical-inspired print with French roots, is a closet must-have for this spring. The Breton tee started as a practical garment for fisherman to protect them from the cold and wind. The tee was a long piece of underwear with three-quarter length sleeves and 22 blue-and-white stripes. Coco Chanel was one of the first designers to include Breton tees in her collection as a designer must-have. Today, Jean-Paul Gaultier has made it his own signature piece as well and typically shows a new Breton tee every season.

When shopping for a Breton tee, make sure to search for tees that skim the body which gives a slimmer silhouette. An often overlooked detail is the weight of the tee, you want a cotton which is thicker and heavy than your average t-shirt. If you’re fuller in the middle, look for a style with colour-blocking around the neckline as this will help bring the eye up.

Done with the 1980′s its now time to move onto the newest decade to draw fashion inspiration. This Fall 2010 season it is time for the 1990′s to have the spotlight.

Simplicity paired with understated chic are the key terms for this fall trend, minimalist pieces made in luxurious fabrics with the modern women in mind. While the pieces may not jump off the page or even seem like the most exciting thing in fashion what this trend translates easily into is instant classics due to there unfussy style and classic silhouette. Designers who pulled from this trend are looking at fashion with new set of eyes are not developing trends that will be here today and gone tomorrow but here today and be forever classics.

“Restraint” is perfect for the plus size working women, dust off your classic blazers, your wool coats, and invest in a fitted pant. Don’t be afraid to take all these items to your local tailor. Keep the palette monochromatic using camel, black, grey and navy.  Donning a monochromatic look is always an easy way to streamline your silhouette.

Black is the new black. Yes, this neutral is back with vengeance. We first saw black very heavily in the punk rock trend, now it has reincarnated into to a new dark romance. This new love affair with the color black also brings new fabrications; such as lace and silk and embellishments; such as rosettes, ruffles, and pleats.  This color trend is worn head-to-toe yet has a romantic allure to it.
