Rani Zakhem Spring 2012

Check out what Vogue.it has to say on the new Rani Zakhem Spring line!

“The line that Rani Zakhem has created for curvy women is a collection of sophisticated dresses: the star is electric blue. These are evening gowns and dresses for formal occasions, and they combine elegance and simplicity. The Lebanese designer’s new collection for spring-summer 2012 features pastel colours and makes the one-shoulder dress a must-have.

The lines are curvy and soft and would suit any figure. His dresses have appeared on the red carpet at the American Music Awards, worn by Hillary Scott, and at the Emmy, worn by Retta. He decided to create a line for women with curves thanks to his family experience: his mother could never find stylish things to wear in her size.”

Elena Miro Autumn 2012

Three minuets of magic! What an amazing Autumn 2012 collection shown by Elena Miro today during Milan Fashion Week. Elena Miro continues to be the ONLY plus size brand which shows a collection during any of the fashion weeks around the globe. This years show launched with a collection of white and black pieces that moved into a silver palette with art deco touches. To close the show Carrie Otis came walking down the runway in a stunning black and feathered dress, followed by the top names in plus modeling  all wearing blues, and neutrals.

Some fun behind the scenes pictures from the show!

2012 NYFW Fall RTW: Norisol Ferrari

Norisol Ferrari was a presentation that I almost missed. I am so lucky I squeezed in last minute to snap these photos, as he was one of my favorites that I got to see in-person. The perks of a presentation versus a runway show is that you get to see the designs up close and personal, you also get to take your time and make sure you get the photo you want. I loved seeing leather, fur and interesting head pieces. My favorite over all was the oversized hooded jacket with the fur underneath, not only does it look insanely warm, but I really love how it frames the mannequins face. Norisol did a great job mixing textures.

Aimee’s Picks: Spring Trends – Prints

Prints have been going strong for the last few seasons, but they don’t always have to be technicolor. Keeping the item black and white will allow you to have fun with colour on your accessories. That’s why this dress is an essential foundation print for spring’12 and perfect for the office paired with a fitted black jacket and a neon belt for a pop of colour.

Candice Huffine for W Magazine

Candice Huffine (Ford Models) is quickly becoming a favorite with W Magazine, as she is featured in her second editorial for the magazine titled “The Girly Show” for their March 2012 issue. We love that she is continuously being incorporated into traditionally straight-size-only editorials. Her curves are a very welcomed sight and something we at Madison Plus want to see much more of!

2012 NYFW Fall RTW: Falguni and Shane Peacock

I am obsessed with Falguni and Shane Peacock’s A/W 2012 collection. It was dark, intricate, and inspiring. I can honestly say I liked everything I saw at this show, however, I may be bias because I love anything with intricate detail, cut-outs, sheer, and a good print. Also, the whole space-age feel was/is so interesting to me. I loved the high slits with zippers running all the way down as if you could zip your skirt into a sleeping bag! Lastly, my favorite look was definitely the final piece. I have seen feathers poorly done by many designers, but Falguni and Shane Peacock really nailed the use of feathers. The model, the rhinestones, the train, the colors, the placement of the stones, everything about this look was exciting and crazy eye candy. I will be dreaming about the train and bodysuit for weeks.

MP Straight to Plus: Eva Longoria

Grabbing dinner in L.A, Eva Longoria kept it cute and causal in the type of look we love - relaxed, comfortable and pulled-together! We love dressing up, but real-life “dressing” is more often than not about looking great on the fly doing everyday errands or hanging out with friends. Classic pieces that are flattering and comfy make this outfit one you will really reach for again and again, so we shopped this casual look for your curves featuring some of our favorite brands!

2012 NYFW Fall RTW: Reem Acra

Reem Acra was not a planned show for me, but I was lucky enough to stumble upon an invite last minute! I am very lucky I did. Her work is so classic with the perfect amount of drama. She started out with a few separates with classic and clean cuts, then the amazing gowns began to appear. I was very happy to see a ton of sparkle on the runways this season, and she did not hold back. There was a lot of asymmetrical lines, and intricate embroidery, I would love to see some of this work up close!

Spring’s Little Black Book: Sheer and Lace

Many designers are working sheer and lace fabrics into their Spring collection creating a light and breezy feel, as well as layering pieces for the warm weather months. The sheer and lace trend is making a big impact on fashion that even bags and shoes can be found with a touch of this trend. Keep accessories simple for an elegant look.

Aimee’s Picks: Spring Trends – Art Deco

Its time to party like its 1929 in this Anna Scholz Georgette Shift Dress, I love the dropped waist which beckons to the art deco period. Pair with some long chains and t-strap heels and you are ready for a jazzy night out.

2012 NYFW Fall RTW: Vantan Tokyo

Vantan Tokyo had a lot of great layering and fantastic prints. The looks from this show were all made by students from the school of Vantan Tokyo which is really cool, and surprised me because their work was so fantastic. The collection had a lot of great fur pieces and even better movement. I am a sucker for anything that flows well while walking and they definitely had that mastered. My favorite look was a huge chunky orange and black sweater with some killer leggings to complete the look. I liked this the most because I can definitely envision myself wearing that on a typical day to the office.
