The first post in our 1970′s Trend Series is hem length or what we like to call “Going The Distance”. Hems are floor-skimming on maxi dresses, maxi skirts, jumpsuits, sweaters and more.
The maxi dress is just such an easy item to work with in your closet, what I love most about it is that it’s “one step” dressing. Throw it on and your out of the door. Well almost. Key things to keep in mind while shopping for your maxi (or anything with length) is to make sure that you are wearing the look instead of it wearing you and overwhelming your frame. Show some skin on the decolletage, shoulders or arms to help keep your figure from getting lost. The hem line should skim your shoe, anything longer will cause you to trip and anything shorter will crop up the silhouette and you’ll lose the line that this look is so great for.
Take a look back at some ways Aimee has worn the look for her curves: Maxi dress with sleeves, halter-top Maxi dress, sleeveless Maxi Dress and jumpsuit.
