Mode Plus: Neon for Beginners

Thought Neon was a 80′s and 90′s fashion faux pas, guess again?!

A few years back we saw hints of neon hitting the runways, from citrine yellow cocktails dresses to colorblocking neon pinks and purples. And when designers like Jason Wu introduced a full on neon look this Spring, I will not lie I became worried. Was fashion pulling a Zack Morris – A.C. Slater on us?

Neon is back and yes in all it’s glory but with much more sophistication. Still recovering from the neon friendship cord bracelets - remember those - or even worse, neon spandex/leotards/any thing really, I wasn’t sure I could pull off a complete neon look. Not one to back down from any fashion challenge, I decided to let neon back in my closet. The most easy way for me to incorporate a trend I’m hesitant about, is by adding accessory pieces. That can vary from statement jewelry to bold nail polish or a lipstick color. This way I still get to experiment without taking big risks. I’m happy and my wallet thanks.

How will you incorporate the neon trend in your closet?
