How to Hide a Fupa

Do you want to hide your FUPA and can’t figure out exactly how? We cover some methods to make sure that pesky weight hides inside.

Lower belly fat can make many women feel insecure about their figures, no matter their body type. When someone feels uncomfortable in their skin can reflect upon their mood and everyday activities. Thus many seek a way out of the FUPA inconvenience.

To hide your FUPA, you can:

  • Start standing up straighter
  • Start wearing FUPA shapewear
  • Wearing clothes with a peplum
  • Wearing outerwear
  • Wearing dresses and skirts
  • Tie a flannel around the waist

I’ll go into more detail below.

A Few Words about FUPA

FUPA stands for Fat Upper Pelvic Area.

It essentially is the lower belly fat that most women gain because of the following:

  • Pregnancy
  • Speedy weight loss
  • Weight gain
  • Etc.

Many women are trying to find ways to part with their lower belly fat through extensive workouts and diets. However, there exist women who do not have the time to commit to such a cause and find other ways to hide their FUPA.

Slouching is not only a matter of confidence but a matter of appearance as well.

It accentuates the lower belly since it has similar effects as bending over. The tummy wizens, making the lower belly fat look considerably in abundance. The same can happen to women that do not have belly fat.

This is called an Anterior Pelvic Tilt. What happens is that the pelvis is rotated forward, compelling your spine to curve. It is mostly caused by excessive hours of sitting without exercise or stretching.

You can fix the anterior pelvic tilt and other slouching forms through regular physical activity.

FUPA Shapewear

To hide FUPA, many women -especially celebrities- put on shapewear under their clothes.

The main goal is to flatten lumps and bumps in the waistline and lower belly. You may opt for shapewear with breathable materials and the ability to hide FUPA under any clothing. You can find many shapewear categories and choose the right one for you, such as:

  • Controlling camisoles
  • Controlling tights
  • Controlling shorts
  • Corsets
  • Bodyshapers
  • Singlets
  • Half slips
  • Dress slip
  • Control pants

Note that you shouldn’t apply KT tape as shapewear to smooth out your lower belly fat.

Wearing Clothes with a Peplum

In most FUPA cases, the goal is to create an hourglass-like body.

One of the most foolproof methods is to wear peplum. A peplum is a cloth (i.e., a shirt or dress) with a seam at the smallest part of the waist, highlighting its thinness. Under the seam, the fabric follows some sort of an A-line while floating away from the body.

You can use this method to make the bumps on your lower belly seem more straight and hide FUPA.

Wearing Outerwear

You can use outerwear to your advantage to hide FUPA.

You might find in the market dresses that hug your body enough to show your lumps and bumps. Outerwear creates shadows where the body has lumps, creating the illusion that they do not exist.

To feel more comfortable wearing those dresses, you can model a jacket to conceal the waistline and several lumps. The eye doesn’t follow the body’s contour but rather the jacket’s silhouette.

This hack is perfect for cold weather, during the fall or winter.

Wearing Dresses and Skirts

One of the most efficient ways to hide FUPA is to wear dresses and skirts complimenting your body.

Dresses and skirts highlight your waist without showing off belly fat. You could opt for A-line and flowy skirts and dresses to achieve your goal and hide your lower belly.

Those types of clothing hug the slim area of the waist and then float around the rest of the body. Some dresses also have a slimmer fit around the bust and a seam around the waist.

Dresses and skirts with an A-line help you give off the hourglass effect to your body.

Tie a Flannel Around the Waist

You might have slim fits in your closet that you want to wear, but they accentuate your FUPA.

A pair of tight jeans or a tight t-shirt might show off the lumps and bumps of your lower belly, which you may prefer to conceal. For most women, the best hack is to tie a flannel around their waist.

Although it may seem too simple to work, a baggy flannel with long sleeves can hide the lower belly fat. You may leave it unbuttoned and tie it tightly around the narrowest part of your waist.

The long sleeves falling in front of your belly hide FUPA. You can also wrap the rest of the flannel to the sides of your body.
